Every time I turn on Jaws on my laptop, it says the "mirror display" is not properly functional. When I go to a website, let's say YouTube for instance, Jaws runs incredibly slow and stuttery, and it absolutely refuses to play any videos whatsoever, opting instead to freeze completely. I have to use Firefox because Internet Explorer refuses to properly function, not allowing Jaws to move throughout the page via my keystrokes. Anyway, Jaws has a similar issue with IsoHunt, my torrent site of choice, freezing in the text-box and just saying "PC cursor" and not letting me do anything thereafter. Please help me.

Sounds like a vidio driver issue. have you tried reinstalling vidio intercept?

Do you need to update to a later version of jaws?

I don't have the money to pay for a new version of Jaws.

b, there's no reason for him or her to get a new version of jaws to fix the problem (at least i dont think there should be.)
if you go to your jaws menu, go to the utilities manager and hit enter on vidio intercept.
from there you should see 3 options.
display, install and uninstall.
i'd uninstall it and reinstall it to see if that fix your problem.

I'd try that, but the computer isn't letting me interact with the Jaws menu. I click on it, the menu opens, and it just says "blank" every time I try to move through it with the arrow keys or tabs.

Hello. Do you have the disc for Jaws?
If so put it in and install Jaws 10, but choose repair on the second section you come to.
Install it just as if you are doing it regular after you choose repair. When it completes it will be as good as it can be.
If you don't have the disc download it from the website. Jaws 10 that is and do the same thing on the repair.
I am assuming you have XP. If not this is your issue, because Vista and Windows 7 will require you to upgrade.
Please let me know if this helps you.

As for real stated, if this is windows 7 Jaws mirror driver will not install properly. Running a repair will get rid of the error for a cycle but once you reboot you'll be back to the same error. This is deffinitly not XP, as there was no mirror driver in xp but DCm.
Jaws 10 should however work with Windows vista.

Thanks for the Jaws 10 working on Vista. I assumed it would not if it was upgraded to service Pack 2, because its much like Windows 7.
With Windows 7 other issues will be present as well.

to put it simpley, the mirror driver and DCM chain are the methods from which screen reading technology attaches its self to the driver of the video card in ones computer. This allows the screen reader to read both DOM and off screen information. Prior to Vista, this was done via DCM whichh is a chain of drivers that begins with the video card driver and ends at a screen reader or magnification program. The mirror driver is more screen reader specific and once again mirrors the video driver to the screen reader or magnification package.

So before vista, there was multiple drivers in place, ware as after vista and above there is only one driver to do the same job?
bwhat does DOM stand for ?
